'Only Three Parties for Kwara Council Polls' - KWASIEC

Date: 2013-10-20

Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission(KWSEIC) has said only three political parties will participate in the October 26 local government council elections in the state.

Chairman of the commission, Dr. Uthman Ajidagba, said only three political parties obtained nomination forms to participate in the polls.

The KWSIEC boss said the parties are the Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party(SDP) and Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

Ajidagba said the affected political parties are those that would take part in the council polls in the remaining 15 local government councils in the state.

"All other political parties including the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not indicate interest to contest for any position as they did not obtain any nomination forms," he said.
