Date: 2011-06-17

The Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed has assured Khadis of the State Sharia Court of Appeal of the provision of benefits equal to those of their counterparts in the State High Court.

Mr Ahmed, who disclosed this at the Sharia Court of Appeal complex while inspecting the on-going projects across the state, also promised to ensure that all projects under construction are given priority before embarking on new ones.

"No arm of government can effectively function without absolute welfare from the government of the day most especially the judiciary," he said. "My administration will ensure that all the segments under the judiciary is given equal opportunity so as bring the sense of delivering good job without fear or favour."

Mr Ahmed added that, henceforth, Khadis will enjoy the benefits that accrue to the judiciary as part of ways of promoting their services.

He promised to provide proper furnishing for the Sharia Court complex as well as housing units to the Khadis at the newly constructed judges' lodge.

The Acting Grand Khadi of the State Sharia court of Appeal, Idris Haroon, thanked the governor for his concerns over the poor operating condition under which the judges are functioning.

"You are the first executive governor to have ever visited us since the establishment of this complex in 1990. You have really made us proud and we will continue to support your administration in the areas of prayer and others," he said
