Gov Ahmed condoles with Deeper Life Church •Over death of members in collapsed church

Date: 2012-04-10

The Kwara State governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, has commiserated with the leadership and members of the Deeper Life Church over the loss of eight members during the early hours of the church's Easter retreat at Eyenkorin, near Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Governor Ahmed, in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, described the incident as unfortunate and noted that the victims of the collapsed structure died during service and shall be granted eternal peace.

Alhaji Ahmed prayed God to give the church and families of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.

The governor promised to provide sufficient machinery to ensure adequate compliance with town planning regulations.

The governor directed the state's town planning authority to commence immediate assessment of ongoing buildings projects in order to ensure compliance with specifications and town planning rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, Governor Ahmed has said that the series of bomb explosions in Kaduna and Jos, Plateau State capital during the Easter period in which many lives were lost, are alien to the nation's culture laced with humanity and spirit of brotherliness.

The governor urged security agencies to ensure adequate conformity with the county's immigration laws to checkmate the activities of foreigners probably masquerading as Nigerians.

Governor Ahmed expressed fears that the bomb blast could slow down the developmental efforts of the government at the centre and state levels
