Ahmed, Saraki others for sixth Okeya Day N250m fund launch

COME Saturday, dignitaries including the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed, will grace the Sixth Okeya Day at which the main event will be the launch of a N250 million Infrastructural Development Fund

The Chairman, Planning Committee, Mr. Ademola Adedoyin says other dignitaries expected at the event include Senator Bukola Saraki, Senator Simeon Ajibola and Special launchers, Dr. Fidelis Ayebae, Mr. Tunde Folawiyo, Alhaji Sule Akande, Mr Tunji Gafar and Toyese Oyinlola as well as traditional rulers.

According to Adedoyin, the Sixth Okeya Day is expected to generate funds for the rehabilitation of the town's premier secondary school, Okeya High School and the town's hospital.

Police stations will also be constructed to enhance security in the community.

The event, which showcases the Okeya community's rich cultural heritage also brings together sons and daughters of the town at home and in the Diaspora.

According to Adedoyin: "The Sixth Okeya Day is essentially building on the achievements of the Fifth Okeya Day which held in 2008."

"This time around, we are focusing on the secondary school where our plans are directed towards the transformation of the 40-year-old institution into one of the best in Kwara State."
