Holidays: Kwara police command deploys 2,500, bans bangers
Kwara State Police Command has deployed 2,500 personnel to provide adequate security before, during and after the Christmas and New year festivities in the state.
The Command has also banned the use of firecrackers popularly called bangers, warning that offenders will be arrested and charged to court.
A statement by the spokesman of the command, Okasanmi Ajayi, in Ilorin on Wednesday, warned members of the public to obey traffic laws, while motorcycle operators were tasked to avoid unnecessary acrobatic displays.
It said officers and men of the command, have been sufficiently lectured on the need to discharge their duties in accordance with the dictate of the rules of their engagement, but will be civil and firm while respecting the rights of the citizens.
The command advised the public to report any untoward activities within or around them to the nearest police station.
The state Police Commissioner, Tuesday Assayomo, while wishing residents of the state a peaceful celebration, advised them to be moderate in all they do during the festivities.
