THREE UNILORIN STUDENTS ARRIVE KENYATA UNIVERSITY FOR FIRST SEMESTER STUDIES
Three students of the University of Ilorin have safely arrived at the Kenyata University, Niroby Kenya. The students’ Henry Chukuma, Eunis Adeniyi and Christabel Egumedia are 300 level students of history and International Studies at the University.
This was stated by Assistant Director, Administrative Affairs, Center for International Education Dr. Mrs. Oluyemisi Fawole in Ilorin. Dr. Fawole said due to the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Ilorin and Kenyata University, and based on the MOU each of the Universities is expected to send students to their Universities on semester bases.
She said while in Kenyata University, the students would take the normal courses they are expected to take after which their grades would be transferred to the University for proper documentation. She said the CIE in collaboration with the Center for International studies in Kenya are constantly communicating in order to ensure the students are doing fine.
Dr. Mrs. Fawole said already the students have settled down and have been provided with good and comfortable hostels. She said the students are expected to return December seventeenth.
In a separate interview with the Director of the Center for International Education, Professor Olugbenga Mokolu, the nature of the exchange is such that the is reciprocity in the institutions, such that issues relating to fees and accommodation are retained by their primary institutions.
He said the next now is to identify areas of needs in terms of Staff exchange. Professor Mokolu said the selection of staff and student depends on the nature of MOU signed stating that some are more specific on the areas of exchange.
Professor Mokolu said the CIE writes all faculties requesting each department to communicate to their students who by themselves indicate interest in participating in such. He stated that they are expected to have a minimum CGPA, the financial ability and other criteria. He said the current strategic plan of the University is to focus on how to evolve a system that will improve on the affordability so that quality students would not be denied.
