Kwara PDP's concensus practice hailed

Consensus practice adopted by the Kwara state chapter of the Peoples' Democratic Party as a means of choosing its flag bearer in any election has been described as' the best practice.

The Peoples' Democratic Party delegate leader from the  national headquarters, Abuja to monitor the party primary for the coming local government poll in Kwara State. 

Hon Mayowa Akinfolarin who made the assertion while monitoring the primary in the state recommended the practice for all political parties across the country.

He further noted that the practice would not only lay to rest, give and misgivings that always greeted party primaries but give party stalwart sense of belonging.

According to him, "the peaceful atmosphere we are witnessing here today is not like in some parts of the country especially when it comes to issue of primary election.

"And the main reason for the rancor is not unconnected with the greediness of some party leaders.

"I must confirm here today that your leaders are great and wonderful because this consensus testify to the fact that you people have confidence in your party leaders in the state",he averred.

He noted that the development in the state was a clear indication that the leadership of the party are progressive.

"With what we have witnessed in Kwara State, we have seen a party that is totally united and the level of unity in this state is amazing.

"PDP is a solid party and it will take a long time for any party to beat it in this state.

"I will recommend that PDP leadership in Kwara State should be commended and leaders at the national level should borrow a leaf from them.

"This is a place where there is unity, cohesion and understanding among the followers and the leadership", he observed.

He urged people of the state not to be discouraged by the so-called fake progressive party which has nothing to show.

The chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Ishola Balogun-Fulani who led other executive members of the party during the monitoring of the primaries, expressed satisfaction on the peaceful conduct of the party members and supporters.

He urged people of the state to remain focus be voting enmass for PDP so as to sustain the progress and development which the party's leadership has established.

He therefore praised the leadership style of the former governor and senator representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, Senator Bukola Saraki.

The primary election in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state was peaceful as Alhaji Tajudeen Sulu Oloje was elected as the party flag bearer.

The candidate according to the returning officer  emerged through consensus, adding that 15 delegates each come from the 12 wards in the local government.

He further explained that other 17 candidates voluntarily stepped down for Alhaji Tajudeen Sulu Oloje without threat.

He added that 168 delegates were expected at the primary, saying that only 157 were present.

The story was not different at Ilorin South Local Government Area as the primary was conducted under peaceful atmosphere.

The Party Chairman in the area, Alhaji Adam Mohammed told the delegate from Abuja that the party flag bearer.

Enjoyed the cooperation of other aspirant as they withdrew voluntarily from the race.

He added that the party delegates had displayed maturity throughout the exercise and comport themselves .
