Clergy Charges Journalists on Objectivity
Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara state council, yesterday commenced its 2013 Press Week with a special church service held at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Ayo, District Coordinating Council headquarters, Sabo-Oke, Ilorin.
At the service, Senior Pastor, Stephen Jaiyeoba, admonished journalists to be more objective in the discharge of their duties.
“Journalists need to be very objective each time they discharge their duties so that they would not lose the confidence and trust the people reposed in you,” he said
The cleric also advised journalists to be mindful of the information they disseminate to the public to ensure that they do not incite public anger and disturbance, stressing that “there is power in the tongue.”
He urged them to continue to stabilise the nation through balanced and objective reportage.
