African Development Bank Lauds Kwara Fadama Projects
The African Development Bank (AFDB) has commended Kwara Fadama Office, Ilorin, for full implementation of the Fadama projects in the state.
The African Development Bank Project Team Leader, Mr Evans Ntagwabira, gave this commendation on Tuesday when he visited some Fadama projects in the state.
He said that the visitation was meant to access the ongoing projects carried out by the state fadama, deduce their challenges, get feedback and brainstorm on how to achieve 100 percent success.
The National Project Coordinator, Fadama III Project, Mr. Tayo Adewumi, appreciated AfDB for its assistance towards improving the well being of rural communities.
Adewumi said that the project was meant to reduce poverty, improve the leaving condition of rural people and contribute to food security in Nigeria.
The State Project Coordinator, Alhaji Usman Akanbi commended the Gov Abdulfatah Ahmed for yearly release of N10 million as counterpart fund for the project.
He also thanked the government for the monthly approval of N500,000 as salary for non civil servants to compliment the allowance of the state fadama office.
The state coordinator explained that fadama would continue with the assistance of relevant agencies to improve well being of rural areas across the state.
According to him, Fadama Development Project is an AfDB-finance project with counterpart funding from the State and participating Local Government Areas.
He said that the Project, which was conceptualised to be implemented between 2005 and 2011, was eventually implemented over a period of eight years that is 2005-2013. (NAN)
