Kwara CP Murder: Police Arrest Key Suspects
The Enugu State Police Command, on Thursday, said it has arrested key suspects in the murder of former Kwara State commissioner of police, Chinweike Asadu. The state Police Commissioner, Tonye Ebitibituwa disclosed this to Daily Sun in an exclusive chat in Enugu.
Asadu was murdered few meters to his residence near Enugu on March 2. Ebitibituwa, who described the death of Asadu as personal loss, expressed satisfaction that the key suspects in the heinous crime that shook the police had been arrested and presently in police custody.
Although, he refused to disclose the identities of the suspects and their number, the police commissioner, said those arrested were the key suspects.
He said the command had also recovered a vital exhibit on the case just as he debunked the news on a television station regarding the arrest of some people in respect of the crime, saying "the television station's reporter is not in anyway competent nor does he has the capacity to say anything on the matter."
The CP assured the people of Enugu State that those who were involved in the murder of the former commissioner of police would not go unpunished.
"The deceased was my colleague, my coursemate, his death is not only painful but came as a shock. Because of this, no stone will be left unturned to bring investigation to a positive conclusion and prosecution." On the burial of the late Asadu, Ebitibituwa said all arrangements had been made to give the slain CP a befitting burial, saying, "it is a burial of full honour where all the senior police officers are going to give him their last respect."
Meanwhile, Christian wake keep was on Wednesday held for the late Kwara State police commissioner, Mr. Sylvester Chinwike Asadu at the police officers mess, Ilorin, the state capital The Administrator, St Joseph Cathedral Church, Ilorin, Rev. Fr. Edward Okere in his sermon described the late commissioner as a gentle man who devoted his life to the service of God He said Asadu, during his lifetime, had demonstrated how an ideal police should be, urging that police in the country should emulate the deceased Edward said death was inevitable for all mankind, saying, "it is only God who will determine when and where everyone will die."
He told the people to always prepare their selves for death, saying that it could come at anytime He also appealed to the police authorities to name the church at the police barrack after the late CP, adding that he achieved the current state of work in the church. He informed that Asadu had contributed to the existing peace and tranquility across the state.
