Kwara ACN Crisis: Youth Vanguard Wants Ayinla's Faction Sanctioned
The Youth Vanguard of Kwara State Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has appealed to the national body of the party to sanction a faction led by Toyin Ayinla to serve as deterrent to others.
The Vanguard which blamed former members of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) who decamped to the opposition alongside Ayinla late last year as the cause of the crisis said their declaration that Mr. Kayode Olawepo was expelled was illegal.
The State Coordinator of the Vanguard, Emmanuel Adeoye Oluwole, who stated this during a press conference in company with other members of the Vanguard disclosed that one Eng. Jide Usman, who was PDP member and Dr Saad Omoiya, the Director of Dele Belgore Campaign Organisation (SAN) with Toyin Ayinla were arrow head of faction that is rooting for return of Belgore as sole gubernatorial candidate of the party without due process.
Oluwole said, “Our position is that Mr kayode Olawepo is the only recognised Chairman of the party in the state. He is the only NEC member at the national level because he is qualified to be there as the Chairman of the party in the state. We also support the party decision that the party don’t have any candidate for elective position in the state. That only the Caretaker Committee inaugurated by NEC is mandated to manage the affairs of the party”.
The Coordinator of the youth stressed that Olawepo’s track records in the last general election, using 25 percent party members to achieve over 150 percent election outcome despite the fact that 75 percent aggrieved members of the party which left before elections, shows that “he is capable to runs the affairs of the party”.
Oluwole, while responding to questions, said the Usaman and Ayinla, who are former members of PDP, have the motive of hijacking the party in order to impose Belgore as the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the 2015 general election. He alleged that when they could not manipulate the constitution and rules of the party to suit their sponsors’ desire, they resulted to divide the party.
He also disclosed that National body of the party had invited the factions for resolution on the matter just as he insisted that the Ayinla’s group, which claimed to be stakeholder of the party do not want to follow constitution and rule; rather, they want to “jump the protocol”.
He urged National Body to sanction Ayinla’s faction by implementing disciplinary measure on them to curb the crisis from degenerating into full blown one.
