Following the complain of residents of Gbagade Community, the Kwara State Government has assured people of the community of periodic fumigation of the dump site located at Gbagede in order to tackle the immediate environmental challenges facing the community.

The Commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Barrister Kayode Towoju, who gave the assurance while receiving the representative of the community and Executive members of Ifelodun Local Government in his office, said the dump site would be used by the Federal Government for Waste Recycling.

He explained that residents of the community will benefit tremendously from the project through the provision of ten thousand litres capacity motorized borehole, stressing that more energy will be produced if enough wastes are generated in Kwara State.

He stressed the need for due process in achieving the aims of the Gbagede ‘Waste-to-Wealth’ Project, noting that no responsive government would want epidemic outbreak or any act that can endanger lives and properties.

Responding, the Vice Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Alhaji Surajudeen Babatunde and the “Asoju Oba of Amoyo”, Prince Garuba Adeyemi, noted the cooperation of Amoyo Community to all government policies and called for a bridge in communication gap in order to take Kwara State to greater heights.
