ABS HOST DOLPHIN BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

Date: 2012-03-07

Today's rescheduled NPL match between ABS FC and champions Dolphin at the Ilorin Township Stadium will be played behind closed doors, officials have said.

"The match will be played without fans because that is the same venue where there was trouble on Saturday during the match between Kwara and Sunshine Stars," NPL executive secretary Tunji Babalola told MTNfootball.com

Both Kwara and Sunshine have since been heavily sanctioned for the crowd trouble at that game in Ilorin.

Meanwhile, Heartland will play Sunday's 'Oriental Derby' against Enyimba in Enugu after the NPL ordered they move the game from their new home ground of Nnewi.

"The NPL have asked that we move the game from Nnewi because there are no terraces there and the game is to be shown on television," Heartland spokesman Cajetan Nkwopara informed MTNFootball.com

"We have therefore opted for Enugu, but that is not to suggest that our new home ground of Nnewi is sub-standard."

Heartland's home is the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri but it is currently undergoing a major renovation and so the choice of Nnewi in the interim.
