Muritala Awolola Urges Tinubu and APC Leadership to Resolve Lingering Disagreements
A Kwara South Senatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Muritala Awolola, popularly known as Omo-Osa Jehun, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the national leadership of the party to urgently intervene in the lingering crisis within the Kwara State chapter of the APC.
Awolola, in a statement on Thursday obtained by Arewa PUNCH, specifically called on the APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, members of the National Working Committee and other leaders of the party to intervene and resolve the disagreements threatening the unity of the party in the state.
The appeal came amid reported internal disagreements within the Kwara APC, which Awolola said had led to the resignation and defection of some members, including influential stakeholders.
He expressed concern that the development could affect the party's preparations for the 2027 general elections if the disagreements were not urgently addressed.
The senatorial aspirant also urged the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to convene a meeting of all APC aspirants in the state to identify areas of disagreement and promote reconciliation among party members.
Awolola also appealed to aggrieved members to put aside their differences and work together in the interest of the party.
He said, "Love, peace, unity and solidarity within the party are essential to strengthening the APC and ensuring effective preparations ahead of the 2027 elections."
He urged party stakeholders to place the collective interest of the APC above personal grievances and work towards restoring peace and harmony within the party.
According to him, resolving the crisis would enable the party to concentrate on consolidating its structures and preparing effectively for the 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, the party chieftain commended the AbdulRazaq administration for what he described as its efforts to improve security and infrastructure across Kwara State.
He stressed that the initiatives had contributed to the development and well-being of residents of the state.
