The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the implementation of the Nigeria for Women Programme (NFWP) through enhanced collaboration, effective implementation and measurable results.

The State Commissioner for Finance, Dr Hauwa Nuru, gave the assurance while receiving the Federal Project Team and a delegation from Ogun State during a peer-learning and implementation-support visit to Kwara.

Nuru described Kwara as a peaceful and secure state for development and investment, attributing the conducive environment to the administration's commitment to protecting lives and property.

She commended the Nigeria for Women Programme for its efforts to improve the economic and social wellbeing of women, noting that the initiative was already producing positive results across beneficiary communities.

"Every minute spent in Kwara must count. We must remain focused on our targets and work together to deliver measurable results. Although we started slowly, the results are now showing that we are making significant progress," she said.

The commissioner disclosed that the programme was currently being implemented in three local government areas, with plans to expand its coverage to six LGAs before the end of the year.

Speaking at the event, the Federal Task Team Lead, Mr Michael Ilesanmi, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for prioritising women's economic empowerment and supporting the successful implementation of the programme.

Ilesanmi also praised Nuru for her commitment to the World Bank-supported initiative, expressing confidence that Kwara could emerge as a model state in the implementation of the Nigeria for Women Programme.

He said the success of the programme should ultimately be measured by the number of women and communities whose livelihoods were positively transformed.

Sharing Ogun State's experience, the State Team Lead, Mrs Bolanle Fadeiro, stressed the importance of ensuring that programme resources translated into tangible and measurable impact.

She explained that Ogun's implementation strategy included direct community engagement, particularly door-to-door mobilisation, alongside regular monitoring and monthly progress reporting.

Fadeiro commended the Kwara State Government for its commitment to women's empowerment and expressed optimism that the peer-learning visit would help strengthen implementation strategies and improve outcomes in both states.
