Ex-Kwara United Forward Alalade Reaffirms Love for Club After Iraq Move

Date: 2026-06-25

Former Kwara United striker Wasiu Alalade has dismissed suggestions that he left the club on bad terms, insisting that his move abroad was a natural step in his football development.

The prolific forward, who now plays professionally in Iraq, said Kwara United will always remain close to his heart despite his departure.

"I will continue to be part of Kwara United. Leaving the club is a sign of progress and development in my football career," Alalade said.

The former U-23 international stressed that both Kwara United and ABS FC played vital roles in shaping his career and helping him achieve success.

Alalade made the remarks after featuring in a novelty match involving Kwara-based and foreign-based players at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl.

He praised the organisers for creating an avenue that brought players together and promoted unity within the football community.

According to him, such initiatives should be sustained because they strengthen relationships and inspire younger players.

The striker recently demonstrated his commitment to grassroots football by donating balls, jerseys and training kits to clubs in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State as part of efforts to support talent development in his community.
