Alhaja Raliat Amope AbdulRazaq, the mother of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, turns 96 today, Tuesday, 26 May. Born in Aba, Abia State, to parents of Ilorin descent, she is married to 93-year-old Alhaji AGF Abdul-Razaq SAN, the first lawyer from the Old Northern Region.

An educationist by background, she co-founded Ilorin College in Ilorin, now Government High School, with her husband. The institution was the first private secondary school established in Kwara State. She is also noted for her linguistic versatility, speaking Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and English fluently.

Alhaja Raliat is the mother of several prominent figures across the political, legal, and corporate sectors. In addition to the Kwara State Governor, her children include three distinguished senior lawyers: Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq, the Managing Partner of AbdulRazaq, SAN & Co.; Senator Khairat Razaq-Gwadabe; and Isiaka AbdulRazaq, the former Group Chief Financial Officer of the NNPC. She is also the mother of Hajiya Aisha Mohammed Lawal, the former First Lady of Kwara State, and Mallam Abdulrauph, an entrepreneur.
