Kwara Govt Hands Over Rehabilitated PHCs to Ganmo, Alanamu Communities
The Kwara State Government has officially handed over two rehabilitated Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) to benefiting communities in Ifelodun Local Government Area and Ilorin West Local Government Area.
The healthcare facilities are located in Ganmo and Alanamu respectively.
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Ilorin, the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Nusirat Elelu, urged members of the benefiting communities to take ownership of the facilities by protecting and maintaining them for sustainable healthcare delivery.
She encouraged residents to utilise the centres for treatment of minor illnesses instead of seeking such services at secondary or tertiary health institutions outside their communities.
According to her, the revitalised facilities are fully equipped with relevant medical equipment and healthcare services, including delivery suites, antenatal care and immunisation services.
Elelu added that health workers attached to the facilities had been adequately trained to provide quality healthcare services to patients.
Speaking earlier in Ganmo, the Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Femi Yusuf, commended the state government for transforming the previously neglected health centre through the revitalisation initiative.
He disclosed that Ifelodun currently has the highest number of revitalised PHCs in the state, noting that 10 healthcare centres had so far benefited from the project.
Yusuf also pledged the council's commitment to maintaining the facilities and ensuring they remain in good condition.
The Oniganmo of Ganmo, Kamaldeen Akanbi, appreciated the state government for the intervention and assured that the community would ensure proper use and protection of the facility.
Similarly, at Alanamu, the Balogun Alanamu, Usman Atolagbe-Jos, who received the facility on behalf of the community, expressed appreciation to the government and management of the agency.
He assured that the community would take proper care of the healthcare centre and make effective use of it.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had in December 2025 flagged off the revitalisation of 83 PHCs across the state.
