AbdulRazaq Hails Tinubu's Reforms for Strengthening APC Ahead of 2027
The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has said the transformative leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strengthened the All Progressives Congress (APC) and positioned it as the preferred platform for electoral victory in Nigeria.
The governor made the remarks at the APC secretariat in Ilorin while addressing House of Assembly aspirants, noting that the large number of party members seeking elective positions reflects the party's popularity, democratic values, and growing influence.
AbdulRazaq acknowledged the limited number of available elective offices and assured the aspirants that their loyalty and commitment to the party would not go unnoticed, adding that many would still have opportunities to serve through appointments.
He praised President Tinubu's economic reforms, saying the administration had provided the support and resources that enabled rapid development projects across Kwara State.
"We have strong leadership at the national level. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is transforming our economy. That is why you see all these developments in this state. He was able to release the resources.
You can see the development we did in the first term of the administration and in the second term. So things are moving rapidly, and we'll continue to do our best in every area and every segment of this state economy," AbdulRazaq said.
The governor said his administration inherited poor infrastructure, unpaid salaries, neglected schools, and abandoned education funding in 2019, but had since recorded significant improvements in road construction, education, healthcare, and other sectors.
According to him, the achievements of Kwara students in national and international competitions reflect the government's investment in education and human capital development.
AbdulRazaq congratulated all the aspirants for showing interest in contesting under the APC platform, describing them as winners regardless of the outcome of the primaries.
"I congratulate all of you. All of you are winners. Each one of you. You see that our party is a very vibrant party. That is what the numbers have shown. It is a democracy. Nobody is stopping you from obtaining forms. You are free to aspire to any position you want in this state and in this federation.
Now, our numbers are large for just 24 positions.
"We will do some engagements among ourselves and thereafter do the contest for these positions. But what I can assure you is that the leadership and the party is proud of you," he said.
He urged them to remain committed to the party and continue supporting President Tinubu's administration, expressing optimism that the president's planned visit to Kwara later in the year for project inaugurations would receive a warm reception from residents of the state.
