The All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders, elders and stakeholders under the Ilorin East Joint Elders (Amule Ward) in Kwara State have called for the ceding of the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency ticket to Ilorin East Local Government Area in respect of the forthcoming 2027 elections.

The APC elders made the appeal while addressing newsmen in Ilorin, noting that such arrangement would promote balanced representation and unity in the Federal Constituency.

The address was jointly signed by the group's chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Olorunnisomo, Chief Akande Mathew, secretary and AbdulRahman Baba Bello, public relations officer.

The APC elders noted that their position was not advanced as a demand, but as an appeal, anchored on equity, party stability, and the collective interest of the constituency.

They expressed optimism that such a decision would further consolidate the goodwill generated by the purposeful administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and reinforce the APC's reputation as one guided by fairness and foresight.

The APC elders added that this engagement is borne out of careful reflection, wide consultations, and a collective resolve to contribute constructively to the ongoing discourse within the party, particularly as it relates to fairness, balance and strategic positioning ahead of the forthcoming electoral cycle.

While acknowledging the contributions of past representatives from the constituency over the years, the group posited that "the time has come to restore balance in line with the principle of justice and fairness that our party proudly upholds."

"The long and short of it is that we have never had it so good in Kwara State. As we approach another election cycle, it has become necessary, indeed imperative, to draw the attention of the party leadership of our great party to a critical matter that touches on equity, fairness and political balance within the Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency.

"We urged the leadership of our great party to give favourable consideration to Ilorin East Local Government Area for the upcoming nomination of the Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency seat, in recognition of the competence, experience and qualifications of its aspirants to represent the constituency effectively," they stated.
