Gov AbdulRazaq Inspects Kwara IICC Project, Commends Construction Progress

Date: 2026-03-05

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction of the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Ilorin, expressing satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on the project.

The governor toured the facility alongside his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah, and was conducted through the site by the Construction Manager, Engr. Kola Olowookere.

Addressing journalists after the inspection, AbdulRazaq commended the contractors for executing the project according to specifications and standards.

"I'm here to inspect the project and see the progress being made, and we are happy with the development. They are scheduled to deliver on time this year. So, the International Conference Centre is set to be delivered this year, God willing," the governor said.

He added that the state government expects contractors to maintain the current pace of work while strictly adhering to approved specifications and project timelines.

"Yes, we are happy with the quality of work so far and we hope they will deliver as per specification and right on schedule," he added.

The International Conference Centre is one of the flagship projects of the AbdulRazaq administration aimed at repositioning Kwara's service economy. The facility is designed to drive growth across technology, innovation, conferencing, hospitality, tourism, creativity and agribusiness sectors.

Government officials say the centre will place Ilorin on the map as a major destination for national and international conferences, exhibitions and business summits, potentially stimulating economic activities for hotels, transport operators, vendors and small businesses across the state.

With construction now at an advanced stage, expectations are high that the ICC will become one of the most significant public infrastructure projects delivered under the current administration before the end of 2026.
