Security Agencies Collaborate with NURTW to Apprehend Fraudsters
The security agencies in Nigeria may have entered into collaboration with members of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in order to apprehend criminals posing as passengers.
Sources said the passengers include those with strange luggage, the ones who often discuss security related issues inside the vehicles and those who usually disembark from vehicles in non-residential areas of the roads.
Already, security telephone numbers might have been circulated to the relevant drivers’ groups in order to urgently bring to book such suspected passengers.
Corroborating the development Friday in Ilorin, the Kwara state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, said the Nigerian professional drivers have a greater role in ensuring adequate security of lives and property in the country.
Ahmed during a tripartite programme of Advocacy/Awareness on HIV/AIDS distribution of Road Accident Health Insurance Scheme (RAHIS) cheques to beneficiaries and the promotion of made in Nigeria buses to members of the NURTW said the vigilance of the drivers was essential to security issues in the country.
