Wife Seeks Divorce for Alleged Battering

A housewife, Tawal Adeshina, on Thursday told an Ilorin Area Court that her husband of  was too quarrelsome and a "wife beater".

She had, therefore, prayed the court to dissolve her two-year-old marriage to Abdulkareem.

Tawal, 33, who resides at Sabo-Oke area, Ilorin, told the court that her husband was impatient and always found excuse to quarrel with her at every opportunity.

She told the court that her husband gets provoked at the slightest provocation and beat her unjustifiably.

"My husband had turned our bedroom to a wrestling stage where he can just squeeze and beat me at will, in fact, he is a wife beater," she said.

The petitioner said that the marriage contracted in 2011, had produced one male child,

She prayed the court to dissolve her marriage to her husband, adding: "my husband has no human feeling and does not love me anymore".

The respondent prayed the court not to grant the prayer of his wife, saying that he was still interested in the marriage.

"My wives always behaved like a child at times and that annoyed me to react," he said.

He prayed the court for another date for him to make a reconciliatory move.

Presiding Judge, Mr Ibrahim Abdulquadri, adjourned the case to March.5, for a report of settlement.
