Honour Us With Victory! - Kwarans in Accra Rally Behind Harmony Boys
Kwarans resident in Accra, the Ghanaian capital, have pledged full support to Kwara United Football Club as the team begins their campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round today against Ghana's Asante Kotoko.
The match is scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium, kicking off at 4:00 p.m. Nigerian time.
Kwara residents who spoke with our sports correspondent, Abdulrosheed Okiki, earlier this morning promised to rally other indigenes of Kwara living in Accra to turn out in large numbers and cheer on the visiting Harmony Boys to victory.
For his part, AbdulRasheed Gidado expressed delight at the opportunity to watch Kwara United play live in Ghana and urged the players to win today's match to honour Kwarans in the diaspora.
"I have confidence in Kwara United's ability to win today's match. Our boys must honour us with victory. Let Ghanaians know we are the better side," Gidado said.
Also speaking, Bolakale Abidesu who said he was once a ball boy for Kwara United urged the players to feel at home, work hard, and defeat the Ghanaian side.
"I have been following Kwara United for a very long time. I was once a ball boy at the stadium in Ilorin. I have firm believe that we will beat Asante Kotoko today. Our boys should strive hard and work as if they are in Ilorin to secure the maximum three points.
"We will stand by the team as if they are at home. We advise the players not to entertain any fear. They should give us the victory," he said.
Tajudeen Ambali and Zakariyah Zarumi rejoiced with Kwara United for winning the President's Cup to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup and prayed for their success in today's match.
