Kwara Government Confirms 97% Salary Disbursement Success for Validly Registered Workers
The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to timely, transparent, and full payment of salaries and pensions to its workforce, stating that all employees with valid registrations in the State Social Identity Database (SSID) have received their dues.
Commissioner for Finance Hauwa Nuru confirmed this in a statement issued on Thursday and signed by Babatunde Toyin Abdulrasheed, the Ministry's Press Secretary. She clarified that individuals who have not received payments either failed to enroll in the mandatory Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA) database or submitted incomplete details.
The SSID verification process, Ms Nuru explained, has enhanced accuracy and reduced fraud in salary and pension disbursements. In May 2025, 97% of state employees with valid KWSRRA registrations received their salaries, underscoring the system's effectiveness.
The remaining 3% were not paid due to invalid registrations or failure to comply with the registration process, she added.
Nuru said that efforts were ongoing to encourage those affected to complete their registration to ensure prompt payment.
She added that 81.2% of state pensioners with valid KWASRRA registrations have also been verified and paid their May pensions.
"Approximately 17% of pensioners have been on hold for over a year due to non-participation in physical verification exercises and failure to register with KWASRRA.
"The remaining 1.8% have issues related to invalid SSID numbers or did not present themselves for verification. This group includes individuals residing abroad, those who have not registered with KWSRRA, and some who may have passed away.
"At the local government level, including the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), 95% of the submitted payroll has been paid. The remaining 5% have not received payments due to invalid SSID or National Identification Numbers (NIN), name mismatches, incorrect Personnel Staff Numbers (PSN), and non-registration with KWSRRA, amongst others," she explained.
Nuhu urged persons who have not received their pay to update their KWSRRA records immediately.
Nuru noted that 76.7% of local government pensioners with valid KWASRRA registrations have also been verified and paid their May pensions.
The remaining 23.3% either have invalid SSID numbers or have not completed the verification or registration processes with the KWSRRA.
"This group includes individuals residing abroad, those who have not registered with KWSRRA, and some who may have passed away," she said.
The commissioner added that the government continues to engage in media advocacy and direct communication with unions and other stakeholders to encourage unregistered pensioners and employees to complete their SSID registrations.
"KWSRRA has introduced a simple and secure SMS-based process for pensioners to lodge complaints and resolve payment issues without the need for physical visits.
"Affected pensioners are advised to send their details via SMS to the dedicated number 08032059986, including their full name, verification number, pension number, account number and bank name, NIN, and KWSRRA SSID number.
"Pensioners who have misplaced or lost their SSID can retrieve it online by visiting the Kwasrra website (kwasrra.ng/register/validate) and entering their NIN."
Nuru posits the administration remains steadfast in its commitment to prompt payment of salaries and pensions, adding: "The SSID verification process is a crucial step towards ensuring transparency and safeguarding public funds."
