Agbamu-Ila Orangun Road Construction Begins After 30-Year Wait
Construction has commenced on the Agbamu-Ila Orangun road, a long-awaited project hailed by residents as a fulfilment of decades-old aspirations. The development follows an inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects across Kwara South Senatorial District by the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, on Tuesday.
Engr. Olododo revealed that the Omu Aran-Oro Ago and Esie-Arandun roads are 90% completed, while phased rehabilitation of the Igbaja-Oke Ode road will begin soon. He reiterated the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration's focus on road infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth and connectivity.
“Since 1993, we've dreamt of this road. Governor AbdulRazaq's commitment to infrastructure is transformative,” said Arigbamu, a community leader in Agbamu, echoing widespread local appreciation.
The Commissioner emphasised that the projects align with the state's vision to boost commerce, reduce travel time, and integrate rural areas into broader economic networks.
“There is no gainsaying in the transformation His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has brought to Kwara State. He is running an all-encompassing government that is paying attention to the needs of the people within the resources available,” Olododo said.
The inspection covered several road projects, including the newly approved Agbamu Ila-Orangun Kwara/Osun boundary road awarded to CPN Construction Company Ltd; Sabaja–Oba Isin–Owa Onire road handled by Fik Construction and Engineering Ltd; Palace Road, Ijagbo and Fagbemi Road awarded to Ultimate Construction Company; and the 95 percent completed Ibrahim Taiwo road/Popo Road in Offa, being executed by Craneburg Construction Company.
The commissioner also visited the recently completed Omu Aran- Oro Ago road and the Esie Arandun road that is 90 percent completed.
He also said the government is already in the process of awarding phased rehabilitation work on the Igbaja-Oke Ode Road to improve travel experience in that axis.
During the visit to Agbamu, the commissioner paid homage to the Arigbamu of Agbamu Kingdom, Oba Samuel Olaniyi Dare, where he solicited the community's support for the ongoing road project and other development efforts of the AbdulRazaq-led administration.
Oba Dare expressed appreciation to the governor for approving the Agbamu road project, which the community had been requesting since 1993. He prayed for the continued success of the administration and assured the government of his people's unwavering support.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Agbamu Development Union, Commandant Kayode Oyinloye, acknowledged the various developmental strides of the present administration in the area, while appealing for more interventions to meet pressing community needs.
The commissioner further visited the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, on a condolence visit over the passing of his mother, Alhaja Hawawu Awele Gbadamosi. He described the late matriarch as a woman of immense love and service to humanity and prayed for her peaceful repose.
Engr. Olododo was accompanied on the inspection visit by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engr. Mudashirua Yusuf Oladimeji, and the Director of Civil Engineering, Ministry of Works, Engr. Akanbi Moshood.
