A brazen attempt by a three-man kidnapping gang to abduct a resident of Ballah was thwarted on Sunday night by a joint team of vigilantes and police officers from the Eiyenkorin division.

According to witnesses, the gang, armed with machetes, targeted Ahmed Arinmajagbe in an attempt to kidnap him before the intervention of the security team.

One of the witnesses said, “During the process, the victim struggled with them and they inflicted serious injuries on him but made away with his motorcycle.

“However, the vigilante and police teams, which were alerted to the incident, combed the surrounding forest in search of the suspects.”

Confirming the incident, the head of vigilantes in Kwara, Alhaji Saka Ibrahim, said. “The gang inflicted serious injuries on the victim, leaving him with a dangling wrist after he struggled with them.”

“After several hours of search, the team arrested one of the kidnappers and retrieved the stolen motorcycle, while the other two suspects escaped.''
