President Tinubu Promotes ADC Nurudeen Yusuf to Colonel

President Bola Tinubu has promoted his Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Lieutenant Colonel Nurudeen Yusuf, to the rank of Colonel. The promotion ceremony took place on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, with Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Yusuf's wife, and other dignitaries in attendance.

Lt. Col. Yusuf was appointed as ADC to President Tinubu in April 2023, ahead of the president's swearing-in on 29th May 2023.

Yusuf's military career is marked by extensive education and training. After completing his Ordinary National Diploma in Computer Science at Offa Polytechnic, he joined the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna in 2000, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical-Electronics Engineering. In 2004, he attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom and was commissioned into the Nigerian Army Officers Cadre.

In 2006, for military advanced education, he trained at the Nigerian Army Intelligence School in Lagos and specialized in intelligence and security. He also attended the Young Officer's Course in Infantry, Kaduna in 2007 and underwent the Tactical Intelligence Officers and Security Investigations courses in 2008.

He attended several international military courses in Mali, Pakistan, China, Israel, and the United Kingdom between 2009 and 2018. He also obtained a Master's degree in Defence Studies from King's College London in 2018.

Throughout his military service, Yusuf has held various key positions. He served as Officer-in-Charge (Technical) for the 119 Intelligence Group in Lagos, before being transferred to the 4 Brigade HQ in Benin as Operations Officer. He later served as Officer Commanding the State House Military Intelligence Group, and in 2015 was appointed Officer Commanding the Presidential Body Guard at the State House in Abuja.

He served as a staff officer, Grade 1, Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps, and military assistant to the Chief of Training/Operations, Army Headquarters from 2017-2019. He later became an Assistant Director of Intelligence/Security.

Until his appointment as ADC to President Tinubu, Yusuf's last posting was at the Nigerian Defence Section in Paris, France, between 2020 and 2022. Prior to being appointed ADC, he was on staff at the headquarters of the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps in Abuja.
