Kwara State's First SAN, Dr Aliyu Alarape Salman, Passes Away

According to reports, Dr Aliyu Alarape Salman, the first Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) from Kwara State and a life member of the Body of Benchers, has passed away, as reported by Solacebase. The renowned lawyer died in the early hours of Sunday in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, at the age of 81.

A family source has confirmed that his funeral prayer will take place today at 4.00 pm.

Dr Salman was born on 9 November 1942 and hailed from Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State. His educational journey began at Aladabiyyah Muslim School, now known as Ansar l-Islam Primary School, where he studied up to Standard Two, and later attended Baptist Day Primary School in Minna.

Dr Salman's passing marks the end of an era for the Nigerian legal community, as he was a highly respected figure and a trailblazer in his field.

He completed his elementary education at the Bababoko Primary School in Ilorin and attended the prestigious Barewa College, Zaria, and got the school certificate in 1959.

Later, he went to the Ahmadu Bello University, graduated in 1967, and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School in Lagos, where he qualified as a lawyer in 1968.

Dr. Aliyu Alarape Salman was called to the bar with the likes of retired Justice Issa Ayo Salami and the present Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari.

He became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria on February 27, 1987.

He is survived by a wife, five children, and many grandchildren.
