Day 2 of Hunger protests: Kwara State Remains Peaceful Amidst Nationwide Protests
According to a news report from Daily Post, the nationwide protests from August 1-10 entered their second day on Friday without any major incidents in Kwara State.
By 10:00 am, the atmosphere in Ilorin, the state capital, was calm and orderly. The bustling Post-Office area saw trading and commerce proceeding smoothly.
Residents continued with their daily activities, traffic flowed freely, and banks remained open for business. Government offices were also operational, with workers present at their various posts.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Square on Asa Dam Road in Ilorin, designated for protesters by a court injunction, remained deserted, with no activities taking place since the first day of the protest on Thursday.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Kwara state command, Ayoola Michael Shola, in a chat with DAILY POST in Ilorin on Friday, described “the protest as peaceful so far without gathering of people anywhere in the state capital.”
However, security forces are still manning some strategic locations in the state capital.
