EGO Foundation Empowers Over 2,500 Women with Financial Literacy Tools
According to a news report from The Guardian, the Enterprise Growth and Opportunities (EGO) Foundation, an NGO dedicated to empowering women in business, has provided financial literacy training to over 2,500 women through its SheEnabled project in Ilorin, Kwara State, and Benin City, Edo State.
Toluwase Olaniyan, the Executive Director of EGO Foundation, shared that the team, alongside volunteers, visited busy commercial markets to distribute and explain locally translated pamphlets titled "Bookkeeping Made Easy." These pamphlets are designed to assist businesswomen in keeping accurate records of their sales and stock.
Olaniyan highlighted that many market women struggle with maintaining proper sales and stock records, which poses challenges when seeking funds to expand their businesses. The SheEnabled project aims to address this gap, equipping women with the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed.
He said: “In partnership with Access Bank and Worden HCD, our discussions were focused on how maintaining good record-keeping practices can enable business women to access grants and loans to boost their trade.”
Olaniyan stressed that the introduction of a business grant pitch, enabling beneficiaries to access business grants, with many others winning instant cash prizes, were parts of the initiative.”
