Kwara Government Establishes 15-Member Farm Inputs Distribution Committee
According to a news report from the Kwara State Government X Handle, the Kwara State Government has formed a 15-member committee to oversee the distribution of farm inputs to genuine farmers within the state.
The committee is chaired by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas. Other members include the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata; Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Aliyu Kora Sabi; Senior Special Assistant on Community Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe; Representative of Civil Society Organisation, Dr. Abdurrahman Akindele Ayuba; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs. Funke Sokoya; Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Idris Jimoh; and Managing Director of Kwara ADP, Dr. Khadijat Alege.
Additional members are the Kwara State Chairman of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Alhaji Sidiq Abdullahi; Kwara State AFAN Chairman, Hon. Mahmud Aboki; State Coordinator, Mr. Salihu Mohammed; State Chairman of the Soybean Association, Mr. Solomon Olawoyin; a representative of Women in Agriculture; a representative of the Maize Farmers Association; and the Director of Agricultural Services, Hajia Hafsat Hussein, who will serve as the Secretary.
The committee is tasked with ensuring the smooth distribution of inputs, proper coordination and logistics, and managing any issues that may arise before, during, and after the exercise. The Commissioner stated that the committee would commence distribution to farmers as per the verified beneficiary details by the end of the week.
This initiative follows an earlier registration and verification exercise conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to identify genuine farmers at their farm locations.
