Over 3,100 Intending Pilgrims Set for 2024 Hajj

Date: 2024-04-29

According to a news report from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Kwara State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that 3,102 intending pilgrims from the state are poised to embark on the 2024 hajj.

The board's Executive Secretary, Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, revealed this during an orientation program and special prayer session for the pilgrims in Ilorin.

The program aims to familiarize the first-time pilgrims with the dos and don'ts of the holy land in Saudi Arabia. Abdulkadir emphasized the importance of proper guidance to ensure a meaningful pilgrimage experience.

However, approximately 100 intending pilgrims will not be able to make the journey due to their inability to pay the balance of their fares, amounting to N1.9 million each.

The chairman issued a stern warning against carrying prohibited items into the holy land. These items include kolanut, large quantities of dry pepper, and more than $10,000 in cash.

Barring any last-minute changes, the state's intending pilgrims will be transported to Saudi Arabia on May 20. The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Bashir Mohammad-Solihu, led the prayer session, urging the pilgrims to pray for peace and security in Nigeria while in the holy land.

He also emphasized the importance of fearing God and forgiving offenders to receive divine forgiveness
