KWSG to Partner Saudi Foundation on Education
Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed said this on Monday when the General Secretary of the Foundation, Dr Ali Magbul Al-Amri, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Ilorin.
He said this was part of his administration's effort at enhancing human capital development in the state.
Ahmed said the proposed 2013 budget accorded the highest vote to education as an indication of the government's commitment to the development of the sector.
"Our decision to put much emphasis and funding of the education sector is because education is one of the most important instruments that mankind can use for growth and development," he added.
Government, he said, would be committing about $15 million to drive the International Vocational Centre where youths would learn skills and become entrepreneurs.
Ahmed identified infrastructure for acquisition of technical skills and special needs as major areas of need by the state.
In his remarks, Al-Amri said the Foundation's nine-point agenda included eradication of illiteracy and evolvement of syllabi that promote human capital resources.
He said the body was also interested in the creation of access to education for the physically challenged, adding that it was ready to partner with the state government on its education agenda.
