Enrol your vehicles in police digitized central registry – Kwara CP to Residents
Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, has advised motorists in the state to enrol their vehicles in the new police digitized Central Motor Registry, CMR.
Olaiya said the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has revitalized and digitized the central motor registry office to tackle vehicle-related offences and enhance their security.
Such offences, according to the CP include car theft, car snatching, kidnapping, carjacking, and hit-and-run incidents among others, largely attributed to the use of unregistered vehicles and tinted glasses.
In a statement in Ilorin on Monday, he explained that vehicles to be covered by the new policy include Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs), Saloon Cars, Trucks, Buses of all kinds, Tricycles, and Motorcycles, among others.
Other accessible services in the new digitized office include request for motor vehicle information, request for change of vehicle ownership, request for change of vehicle license, number plates and request for change of vehicle chassis or body among others.
The CP listed the benefits of the digitization of vehicle information through the central motor registry for the general public to include, enhanced security, efficient law enforcement, crime deterrence, expedited investigation, and national security.
He asserted that with a digitized CMR in place, citizens can have greater confidence in the security of their vehicles, saying accurate and real-time vehicle information will assist in the prevention and swift resolution of vehicular crimes, ensuring that citizens' assets are safeguarded.
Olaiya, enjoined vehicle owners in the state to embrace the opportunity of enrolling their vehicles, including motorcycles and tricycles in the digitized CMR and be part of the collective effort in enhancing the security and safety of our society.
