Independence: Sulu-Gambari seeks improved coexistence

Date: 2023-10-02

Rejoicing with Nigerians on the country's 63rd Independence anniversary, Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has canvassed peaceful co-existence among various nationals, describing it as germane for development.

He commended the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, “for his quality leadership,” urging residents to continue praying for unity and harmony in the state and Nigeria at large.

Sulu-Gambari, in a statement by his spokesman, Abdulazeez Arowona, extolled the virtues of the country's heroes like the late Sardauna of Sokoto and Premier of Northern Region, Ahmadu Bello; as well as Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, among others, who struggled for Nigeria to become a sovereign nation on October 1, 1960.

The monarch described the traditional institution as an integral part of national peace and security, promising: “The Kwara Traditional Rulers Council will continue to support governments at all levels to sustain peace and harmony in the state.”

He, therefore, urged the people of Ilorin Emirate and beyond to continue to remain peaceful, prayerful and love each other, while shunning all acts capable of causing rancour in the society.
