Cleric Charges Politicians at Waziri 40th Day Prayer

Date: 2012-12-24

Political officeholders in Kwara State have been admonished to borrow a leaf from late Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki's virtues for them to achieve success and make meaningful impact in the lives of their supporters.

The Chief Imam of Offa, Alhaji Muhideen Salman, gave the admonition yesterday in his sermon at the 40th day remembrance prayer for late Saraki held at Charity Home, Ilofa road, G.R.A., Ilorin.

Imam Salman who enumerated some virtues of the Second Republic Senate Leader, said no politician in the state can assume an exalted position like late Saraki except they share his virtues and values.

According to the cleric, late Saraki was a unique politician who possessed exceptional qualities like forgiving spirit, patience, generosity as well as love and care for everybody that came his way.

The Imam Offa stated that late Saraki had contributed enormously to the socio-economic development of the state and country at large through his humanitarian service.

"His life and death speaks volume about his personality and good conduct during his lifetime and that is enough lessons for living politicians, if they want to have a good ending like late Saraki," Imam said.

Also delivering a sermon at the prayer, Ustaz Abdulrasaq Adama Thanni called on the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, and former State Governor, Senator Bukola Saraki to sustain the existing cordial relationship between themselves in the interest of peace and development of the state.

Adama Thanni who explained that the expectation of some enemies of progress in the state was for the duo to be at logger heads, admonished them to continue to work together harmoniously in the name of moving the state forward.

While extolling the virtues of late Saraki, Adama Thanni slated that late Saraki was not a selfish, greedy and stingy person, adding that his exemplary leadership necessitated the large turnout of people to his residence from the day he died to date.

The prayer was led by Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir, who prayed God to grant late Saraki eternal rest.

Present on the occasion were the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, all the children of Late Saraki, members of National Assembly from the state, Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abdulrasak Atunwa, and other members of the House, Former PDP Acting Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, local government chairmen, members of the state executive council, Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Bamigbola, Grandkhadi of Shariah Court, Justice Idris Haroon Abdullah.
