Pillar of Sports in Nigeria, Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike JP, has pledged a robust partnership and sponsorship to sports writers in Kwara State.

The business man philanthropist made this new pledge while meeting Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Kwara State chapter in Ilorin on Thursday when the new leadership of the association, led by its Chairman, Ayodeji Ismail, alongside other members of the new executive committee, paid him a courtesy visit.

Chief Ejidike stated that sports reporting is the core of sports development, marketing and the business in its entirety.

“My door is always opened to sports writers especially SWAN.

“I have always supported you and I will continue to do so,” he said.

The Pillar of Sports however charged the journalists to rediscover the passion in sport reporting, while also carrying critical stakeholders along.

“No matter where you come from, sports accommodates all,” he added.

Also with the Pillar of Sports at his Ilorin office where no less sports business personalities like ace journalist, seasoned sports administrator, General-Secretary, Club Owners Association of Nigeria, and the Director of football, ABS Ilorin FC, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, Igiri Joseph, Chairman, Igbo Traders Football Association Kwara State; Adebayo Abubakar, a Sports journalist and Prince Ajide Olayioye, among others.

Olayioye, admonished the new leadership of SWAN not to get distracted by petty politics, capable of derailing their focus on the task of setting developmental agenda for sports in the State.

During the visit, Prince Olayioye who doubles as the chairman, Board of Trustees, Office of the Nigeria Pillar of Sports, presented the SWAN team with the congratulatory letter, presented to the State SWAN chairman, on behalf of Chief Agu-Ejidike.

The SWAN chairman in his remark acknowledged the immense contributions of Chief Agu-Ejidike, across the country, and Kwara State especially, saying that his administration would always be willing to collaborate with the office of Nigeria Pillar of Sports, for the development of Sports in the State.

SWAN also promised to more attention to sports development initiatives of the Pillar of Sports in Nigeria, estimated to be in millions annually.

On the SWAN chairman's entourage were Toyin Saheed (vice-chairman), Nicholas Uwerunonye (Treasurer) Mallam Mustapha Abubakar (Ex-officio), Sadiq Adebara (Assistant General-Secretary), and Dele Obaseesin (Welfare officer).
