'Why We Defected to PDP'
It was a spell fair weather in the camp of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Offa Local Government Area with the dumping of ACN by executive aides of the chairman of Offa Local Government, Prince Saheed Popoola, which, has affected the heady spirit of the top echelon of the party executives in the area, and thus has sparked off another press war between the groups involved.
The executive aides were led by Alhaji Mufutau Adeyemo, the Secretary of Offa Local Government Area, others are, Hon. Sarafa Bakare, Supervisory Councilor for Health; Engineer Rasheed Amototo, Supervisory Councilor for Works and Alhaji Salihu Mustapha, who is the Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation.
The exit of these ACN gladiators was not without its dramas.
Immediately, the news went round the town on Wednesday with the front page story of The Herald of November 28, 2012, there was a statement in the Okin fm, expelling the four men from the ACN and advising them to resign from the administration of Popoola. This statement was credited to a factional chairman of ACN in Offa, Alhaji Bakare.
Expectedly, the leader of the Bakare's group Alhaji Raheem Idera, was on air on Saturday, stating that it was the best option for the defectors to honorably resign from Popoola's administration.
Adeyemo in the company of the other four, describe the call as misleading, stating that their appointment was not made by the group calling for their sack, maintaining that only the Executive Chairman,
Prince Saheed Popoola can seek for their removal, describing the role by those calling for their sack to that of a motor park herald boy who is oblivious of the events of the actual journey of the driver, for Popoola is the driver, they are the conductors who accompanies the driver on a journey, revealing that they are acting a script which must be followed to the letter, " what concerns agbero with overload,'' he added.
