The weightlifting coach of Team Kwara, Sunday Adele, has appealed to the coordinator and officials of team Kwara to the 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012, in Lagos to pay his allowances and that of his athletes.

The coach made the appeal while speaking with newsmen from the state at the National Stadium Surulere this morning, adding that they were yet to receive any money from the sports council or the state ministry of sports and youth development since they embarked on training tour in Abuja as part of preparations for the festival.

He said his athletes and his team went on a two week training tour in Abuja without receiving allowance, stressing that efforts to contact any top official of the state have been abortive, and that the man who led them to Abuja abandoned them at the hotel where they were subsequently ejected.

Adeyemi noted that the ordeal affected their performances at the festival proper and called for an improved support in subsequent future festival.
