Kwara Assembly Urges Govt. to Resuscitate Water Works
The Kwara House of Assembly on Thursday called on Gov. AbdulFatah Ahmed to resuscitate the Shaata water works in Asa Local Government Area of the state.
The House made the call in its resolution after adopting the report on the condition of the water works prepared by its Committee on Agriculture and Water Resources
The resuscitation of the waterworks would go a long way to arrest the acute water shortage being experienced by the people of the area.
The Speaker, Hon. Rasaq Atunwa, stressed the importance of potable water to both human beings and animals and called on the state government to repair the water works.
He reminded the state government of the huge sum of money already spent on the water projects across the state.
Atunwa urged the state government to ensure that the project met the intended purpose of adequate provision of water for all.
The House similarly called on Asa Local Government Council to provide adequate security at the water works to prevent vandalism.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Shataa water works broke down five years ago following acts of vandalism at the siteof the water works. (NAN)
