Ilorin Monarch Assures Sarakis of Continued Support

Date: 2012-11-30

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambari, has assured that he would continue to extend the support given to the late elder statesman, Dr. Olusola Saraki and the Waziri of Ilorin as the political leader in the state to his son Dr. Bukola Saraki and other members of the family in order to move the state forward. The monarch made the promise when late Saraki's family members including Mrs Toyin Saraki, Senator Gbemisola Saraki and Mrs Tope Edu (nee Saraki) among others paid him a thank you visit in his palace. Senator Bukola Saraki in company of his wife and a long retinue of loyalists, PDP leaders and supporters also visited all the Baloguns and few other personalities in the state capital to thank them for their support during the funeral. Gambari who was responding to the remarks by the former governor said the support became necessary because of the lofty achievements of the elder statesman in Kwara State in particular and Nigeria as a whole, just as he praised what he described as the sterling performances of Senator Bukola Saraki since he joined politics. The former governor who thanked the monarch for his assurances to his family said he would justify the confidence reposed in him by forging ahead with the political leadership of the state from where his father stopped. Those visited included the Balogun Fulani of Ilorin, Alhaji Atiku Durosinlohun, the Balogun Gambari of Ilorin, Alhaji Aliu Adebayo, Sheikh Sofiulahi Kamaldeen, the Khalefat Sheikh Kamaldeen, Alhaji Issa Ajikobi, Magaji Are of Ilorin, Alhaji Aremu Zubair and Balogun Alanamu, Alhaji Abubakar Jos and Professor Albert Ogunsola, a long time friend and political associate of the late elder statesman.
