Ahmed Asks Youth Corps to Look Inward for Jobs
The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed, has charged the Batch 'B' National Youth Corps members to reflect on the training given to them at the orientation camp to create employment opportunities for themselves.
This came yesterday during the closing ceremony of the orientation course at NYSC orientation camp, Yikpata.
Governor Ahmed, who was represented by the state Head of Service, Alhaji Dabrako Mohammed, charged the corps members to take advantage of all the trainings they received during their orientation programme to be job creators in order to get rid of the challenges in labour market.
"My dear corps members, I charge you to generously reflect on the lectures and trainings you received on self-employment and entrepreneurial skills for the purpose of becoming skilled and self-reliant youths empowered to create employment rather than wait endlessly for non-existent jobs," he charged.
He assured them of the state government's support for them to function effectively, in their various places, during the period of their primary assignments, urging them to justify the motto of the scheme.
His words: "Be assured that the present administration in Kwara State will create the ambience where the skills and expertise acquired within the three weeks exercise will be translated into concrete achievement in the nooks and crannies of the State of Harmony.
"As you leave for your respective places of primary assignment, I urge you to be true to the motto of NYSC, 'Service and Humility' as you discharge your duties throughout this one year of selfless service to our fatherland. Be assured of our support at all times."
The governor, who also assured the corps members on adequate security, disclosed that measures had been put in place in all parts of the state to ensure a secured environment for them, calling on security agents and traditional rulers to play own their security for the corps members.
In her address, the state NYSC coordinator, Mrs. Ezinne Ngozi Ezekwe, also charged them to make remarkable impacts, through their various community development programmes, in their various places of their primary assignment.
She encouraged them to get involved in creative and challenging programmes capable of building the nation.
