The state Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode Towoju, in a sympathy message, described the fatal accident as very unfortunate and painful.

"Today was a black Sunday and we pray to never witness such a sad occurrence ever again. People were traveling to Lagos and among them were young Nigerians, the hope of our dear nation. Unfortunately, they could not get to their destination.

"My colleague in the Ministry of Works, Engr. Rotimi Iliasu, has released a statement that  they will introduce speed bumps and see to the adjustments of some of the U-turns on the highway so as to regulate speed and forestall such occurrence in the future.

"It is our  prayer that God rests the souls of the departed and grant their loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. May we never witness such unfortunate incident again in Kwara State," the statement added. 

The statement prayed to God to repose the souls of the deceased and grant their families the fortitude to cope with the monumental loss.
