Floods: Kwara Seeks Timely Release of N300m Palliative Fund

Date: 2012-10-24

The Kwara State government is yet to receive the N300 million recently approved for it by the federal government as palliative fund for flood victims in the state.

The Special Adviser on Emergency and Relief Services, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi disclosed this yesterday during the presentation of relief materials to flood victims in Patigi Local Government Area of the state.

Abdullahi who commended the federal government for the gesture, however urged it to release the fund on time to support the state government's efforts in bringing succour to the victims.

He restated the commitment of the state government to the provision of relief materials to flood victims across the state. This, he said, accounted for the release of N25million by the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.

Abdullahi, who announced the provision of bags of cements, mattresses, rice, and other valuable items to the victims, said the materials were palliative measures to take care of the victims' immediate needs.
