Kwara Speaker brokers peace between community, herdsmen

Date: 2020-11-02

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi, has brokered peace between Batonou and Fulani inhabitants of Bwen community of the Baruten Local Government Area of the state.

Danladi met with the two groups at the palace of the Village Area Head of Bwen and appealed to the two groups not seek revenge over the violence, which claimed several lives and left scores injured in June.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Speaker's Media Assistant, Ibrahim Sheriff, on Sunday.

He quoted the speaker as saying, "We must live together as brothers and avoid the war-like situation in some parts of northern states of Nigeria, which started as needless ethnic conflicts and have now grown like wildfire, consuming the peace, progress and development enjoyed by people of these states.

"I urge you all to embrace peaceful coexistence and avoid any form of inflammatory utterance or action capable of inciting violence, security agencies will not spare anyone found culpable of orchestrating violence or public disorder."
