Insecurity: Atunwa Charges New Chief of Defence Staff

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Barr. Razaq Atunwa, has charged the new Chief of Defence Staff , Vice Admiral Saad Ola Ibrahim, to strengthen intelligence gathering and be proactive to stem the tide of violence threatening the corporate existence of the country.

Atunwa gave the charge in a statement by his special assistant on media, Abdulrahman Sanni.

The speaker said strengthening the nation's security would assist greatly solve the security problems facing the country.

The lawmaker praised President Goodluck Jonathan for appointing an indigene of Kwara State as the Chief of Defence Staff and urged Admiral Ibrahim to carry all stakeholders along in his bid to salvage the nation from the security challenges confronting it.

He posited that the security situation of the country required total commitment of all the nation's security apparatus.

The Speaker, however expressed confidence in the ability of Admiral Ibrahim to effectively carry out the onerous task of ensuring the security of the nation and called on Nigerians to cooperate with the new service chiefs to restore security in the country.
