Don't be used by selfish politicians - Ahmed
Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has called on Nigerian youths to shun any attempt to be used as tools by selfish politicians.
Speaking while receiving officials of the North Central Zone of the National Youth Council, Ahmed advised youths to be advocates of peace and encourage dialogue as a tool for nation building.
In a statement on Sunday by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, Ahmed said youth empowerment and skill development would reduce youth restiveness and advance Nigeria's economy.
He added that his administration would build a N1.2bn International Vocation Centre in Ajasse Ipo.
According to him, the centre will provide world class training and establish the state as a hub of skills and a destination for employers within and outside the country who are seeking to recruit artisans.
Also, the governor reiterated his commitment to the completion of 21 on-going road projects across the state in the next four years.
He made the pledge at the presentation of a Second Class Staff of Office to the 7th Emir of Yashikira, in Baruten Local Government Area, Alhaji Usman Sariki, the Sabi Kpassi II.
Ahmed said he had approved the construction of 374km of rural roads across the 16 local government areas of the state.
He added that the state government would construct 20 comprehensive health centres in 2012 to achieve the 500 metre radius access to qualitative health care delivery policy thrust of his administration.
The new emir appealed to indigenes of Yashikira to unite, adding that by forging greater unity, they would build a more vibrant and prosperous emirate.
He thanked Ahmed and Yashikira kingmakers for ensuring a crisis-free selection process, and promised to ensure fairness and justice at all times.
