Ali Ahmad free computer centre graduates 164 beneficiaries

No fewer than 164 beneficiaries today graduated from the maiden edition of Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad Free Computer Training Centre in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The first batch beneficiaries who were drawn from the 23 Wards comprising Ilorin South Local Government were trained on Desktop Publishing which includes Microsoft Word, Power Proof, Excel, Publisher and CBT for the period of three months.
Speaking, the Chairman of the occasion and Deputy Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Mathew Okedare described the programme as highly commendable and great way of impacting the society.
Okedare said the computer skill acquisition programme is a creative initiative that would develop young, vibrant and result oriented entrepreneurs who would in the nearest future become job creators as against job seekers, a trend that is fast becoming the norm in the society.
While admonishing the graduands to count themselves lucky for the programme, the lawmaker challenged other public office holders to emulate the good work and intentions behind such programme.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Education, Human and Capital Development, Hajia Bilikisu Oniyangi while commending the organisers described the free computer skill acquisition programme as the best form of empowerment.
Represented by the Director, School Services, Mr. Ogunwole Olayinka noted that the programme would undoubtedly enhance their educational pursuit and make them self dependent.
Similarly, the Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Services, Dr. Muritala Awodun who also commended the programme, however donated 10 computer sets to support the centre.
Earlier, the free computer training Initiator, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad informed that he deem it necessary to organise the training in order to assist in improving the beneficiaries and make them self-dependent.
Represented by the former commissioner for health, Dr. Atolagbe Alleged, Ahmad stressed that initiating the free programme was borne out of his desire to impact positively on his Ilorin South Constituency, adding that it was not politically motivated.
The Speaker said computer appreciation would assist them tremendously, saying that it is one of the first requiments an employer would ask while searching for job.
He stressed further that over the years, he had organised series of empowerment programmes for the people of his constituency and would not relent in that regard.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mohammed Abdulbasit thanked Dr. Ali Ahmad for the gesture and prayed Allah in His Infinite mercy to continue guiding his affairs.
