Kwara Raises Road Minders C'ttee

Date: 2012-09-03

The Kwara State commissioner for works and transports Dr Abubakar Amuda-Kannike has inaugurated a road minders committee saddled with responsibility of checkmating indiscriminate damage of the state roads.

The committee that comprises two teams of sixteen members will also assist in halting the hardship being encountered by people of the state on the state road. Kannike said the committee is charged with responsibility of, among others, identifying obstruction and structure constituting public nuisance on roads. He said the committee's terms of reference are backed by law put in place to enforce the environmental sanitation law Cap E4 of sections 9 & 10 which makes it unlawful for cutting of roads without approval. He therefore appealed to roads users to stop indiscriminate cutting of roads for digging and lying of water pipes as well as other things.
